Playing craps involves betting on the outcome of the roll of the die. People can be found playing craps in casinos, at home online, or on video games. Some estimate that 30 million Americans enjoy playing craps. The game of craps has evolved from a game played in Europe hundreds of years ago to the popular game we see today.
The basic goal of craps is to roll a certain number before rolling a seven. The game starts with the come out roll which establishes the point. The point is the number that the shooter wants to roll before a seven. The point can be a four, five, six, seven, nine or 10; if a two, three, seven, eleven or 12 is rolled on the come out roll, the round ends immediately. Once a point is established a player rolls the die until a seven or the point is rolled.
The above paragraph basically describes each round of craps, but betting is what playing craps is really all about. There are a variety of different bets involved with playing craps and for the beginner they can be rather intimidating. The simplest bet is the pass line bet. The pass line bet is placed before the come out roll. If a shooter rolls a seven or eleven on the come out roll you win. If a two, three, or 12 is rolled, the pass line bet loses. If on the come out roll a point is established, the pass line bet wins if the point is rolled before a seven. Once you understand the pass line bet you can start to enjoy playing craps.
Just the opposite of the pass line is the don't pass line bet. The don't pass line bet wins if a two or three is rolled and loses if a seven or 11 is rolled. If a point is established on the come out roll, the don't pass line wins if a seven is rolled before the point. A come bet is a bet similar to the pass line bet except it is placed after the come out roll. Similar to the pass line, a come bet wins if a seven or 11 is rolled and loses if a two, three or 12 is rolled. If any other number is rolled, that becomes your point and wins if it is rolled again before a seven. These are the basic bets involved with playing craps, once you learn them you can start playing craps.
